Thesis Title

How to combine governance and strategy to improve overall performance: the case of the Islamic Bank of Guinea

Abstract

This thesis essentially oriented on intervention-qualimetric research method aims, on the one hand, to set up levers likely to ensure the overall performance of the Islamic Bank of Guinea and, on the other hand, to acquire new knowledge allowing management to develop managerial skills useful to professionals and researchers. To achieve these objectives, socio-economic management, theorized by ISEOR, is implemented within the institution. It is a global and sustainable management method that relies on the development of the company’s human potential to improve its social and economic performance. In essence, three fundamental actions are highlighted and have made it possible to achieve real results: the process of change and organizational development, the implementation of socio-economic management tools and political and strategic decision-making.

The process of change and organizational development consisted in the establishment of working groups and the definition of their missions which resulted in carrying out a socio-economic diagnosis with the identification of dysfunctions, the analysis of their causes and impacts (or risks) and the evaluation of actions in terms of investments in capacity creation.

Socio-economic management tools are put in place for the strategic management of the institution, including the Internal and External Strategic Action Plan (PASINTEX), the Priority Action Plans (PAP) and the Skills Grid.

Finally, political and strategic decisions are taken and monitored through the Strategic Committee that has been set up. These relate to four (4) strategic areas: technological development, business development, human potential development and governance & compliance.
