Thesis Title

The place of Islamic microfinance in local development financing: a case study of the Banamba commune in the Koulikoro region

Abstract

The exponential advance of Islamic finance appears to be an effective alternative solution to the financing of certain organizations. As the numbers tell us, Islamic assets will reach $3.693 trillion in 2024. In this context, we are trying, through this study, to demonstrate with what and by what means Islamic microfinance can contribute effectively to the financing of local development, the example considered being that of the commune of Banamba in the Koulikoro region of Mali. The exploratory study shows that in Mali, the decentralization policy, as well as the national strategic framework for poverty reduction, encourage the realization of our thesis project. The first of its kind, it aims to model Islamic finance adapted to local development in a Malian context. To this end, using the literature review, we will define the conceptual framework of development management, then present Islamic finance, traditional microfinance and Islamic microfinance. On the same conceptual elements, field surveys and interviews will be conducted with the population (nationals of Banamba in Bamako and those of Banamba commune (Koulikoro region)) from a sample of two hundred (220) actors involved in development projects in the commune of Banamba.
