Jacques Igalens is a university professor at Toulouse IAE. He began his career as a consultant in the field of HRM and created a consulting firm that he led for several years. He was also director of a major French business school and had numerous responsibilities at Toulouse 1 Capitole University (Director of IAE, Senior Vice President and Director of the Graduate School).
In 1989, he created AGRH, French Association of Human Resource Management, which brings together more than a thousand researchers in forty countries and publishes a scientific journal, the Revue de l'Organisation Responsable (Ed. ESKA) [Journal of the Responsible Organization].
He has written over a hundred articles and books on the suject of Human Resource Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. He chaired the International Institute of Social Audit, and he remains the head of its Scientific Council. He is the member of five orientation committees or scientific committees at institutions of higher learning, as well as a member of research review committees in several countries.
He directs or co-directs the scientific council of several journals, such as Revue de Gestion des Ressources Humaines [Human Resource Management Review]. He is also member of the Academy of Sciences of Toulouse. He has supervised 25 doctoral theses and 15 HDR (habilitation) degrees; he has chaired 74 doctoral defence committees and was the rapporteur for more than one hundred theses in management. Finally, he frequently lectures at international conferences.
